New trend hits Cambridge
In 2000, self-proclaimed naturalist Bobby Sparling decided that what greater Boston really needed was a place where naked men could meet, socialize and do power yoga. Sparling approached several dance studios without success, but finally found a hit with class instructor Clyde Nantais, a former dancer with the Boston Ballet who also teaches fully clothed ballet and jazz classes. Beach Town Repeals Speedo Ban
Come on in, Speedo wearers, the water’s fine: Your skimpy swimsuits are actually legal now, for the first time in years. For more than 30 years, this quaint little Victorian-themed resort at the southern tip of New Jersey said no to “skin tight, formfitting or bikini type” bathing attire on males over the age of 12. Runner beans may end nudist feud
A long-running clash between a nudist camp in Isefjær and annoyed neighbors may finally have a natural solution - quick growing runner beans that will block the view. The municipality of Lillesand and nearby residents have long wanted the naked truth of Isefjær camp activities better hidden from the eyes of children or those with more conventional habits, newspaper Fædrelandsvennen reports. Here for the sun, not the skin
APOLLO BEACH -- On a blustery Sunday, seven friends sit on lounge chairs propped up in the coarse sand, sipping from cans of beer. It could be a typical American scene -- buddies sharing drinks and shooting the breeze -- except they're all naked. Crammed together behind a three-foot blue tarp to block the wind, they are not the centerfold-worthy women or weird men you might expect to find here. The regulars at this quiet nude beach look more like an average neighbor, the mail carrier or a nurse. More...

Streakers heed police warning, clothes up shop
They have streaked through Princeton University's Gothic quads stark naked, crashed an abnormal psychology lecture in the buff and trotted by the school's venerable eating clubs au naturel. But the Princeton University Varsity Streaking Team's run may be over. The unofficial student club -- formed last semester to revive the long-lost art of campus streaking -- is officially "on hiatus" after a run-in with police. More...

Going commando adds spice to warm weather
It's April again, and before we know it, summer will be here. The pressures of summer include getting the perfect tan and being in great shape to wear fewer clothes during those steamy months. However, with how busy you've been all semester, you may have missed a few workouts. You may have eaten one of those new hamburgers at a fast food chain that should equal your caloric intake for a whole week. More...

These golfers play the real skins game
There's no pro shop hawking golf shirts. There are no signs telling you what kind of shoes are permitted on the golf course. And there's no stodgy course director making sure your attire is up to par. At Cypress Cove Nudist Resort & Spa, golf is completely dressed-down. "We're pretty liberal with the dress code here," said Ted Hadley, who helps run the resort his grandfather founded 41 years ago. More...

ACLU: Library Web censorship inconsistent across R.I.
One day at the main public library, Amy Myrick logged onto an Internet search engine and typed the word "nudism." The library's computer blocked that search. As the program and development coordinator for the Rhode Island Affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, Myrick knew that a recent decision of the U.S. Supreme Court allowed her to demand that the library remove that block. Walk in solitude
Heading north on the soft, red sand of Playalinda Beach, I spot a rotund, pink man wearing nothing but a smile. "That could be the last human we see for a few hours," my buddy Jay observes as we leave civilization behind. "That image is going to be burned into your mind." We are heading into one of Florida's last oceanfront wilderness areas, an area identified as Klondike Beach on a map of Canaveral National Seashore. More...

Life's a beach for Ulster naturists
Plans have been revealed for a nudist beach in one of Ulster's top beauty spots. Local naturists' naked ambition is to transform a strip of Portstewart strand into a sanctuary for nude sunbathers. Naturist, John Kennedy, from Ballymena, confirmed the group had been in talks with the beach's owners, the National Trust. Said John: "We were trying to keep this quiet, because negotiations are at a very early stage. More...

Nebula-H singer goes naked
Hot and surprising news from the Nebula-H camp to say the least! After the release of their 2nd album “H20”, the band now announces that their singer went naked for a photo shoot by British nude photographer Duckie (a former photographer of Penthouse). They met during the photo shoot of the “H20”-album for which Duckie made several pictures that have been used for the “Still Impressum” of the “Fragments”-song on the DVD. More...

Naked jogger is arrested
A jogger who has been taking his early morning run in the nude for more than a year has been arrested. Nudist Robert Register was spotted going through an apartment block in Florida, in the US, at 5am by a local who called cops. Officers caught up with the 56-year-old who jumped into a bush and slipped on a pair of shorts. Register carried on jogging but they managed to stop him further along the road where he was arrested for indecent exposure. More...

Nudism fosters healthier individuals, society
I was born nude. Nothing unusual here. In 1962, I was 8 years old, my parents took on the management of a nudist club in Colton. For the next 12 years this was my home. My family were members of other clubs before that so I have been a nudist all of my life. In the late '70s, I spent an afternoon being interviewed by Dennis Craig Smith, who along with William Sparks wrote, "The Naked Child: Growing Up Without Shame/Social Nudity/Its Effect on Children," a statistical study of adults who were brought up in a nudist environment. Sun Devil Jane
This calls for a champagne celebration..!  We are all just so proud of our Sun Devil Jane that I hardly know what to say.  Actually... I don't need to say much... because Jane has done such a wonderful job of doing that in her article "Why I love getting naked" right here in the pages of the March issue of Prima... which is one the most popular women's magazines in the United Kingdom..! Is Grandpa Naked in the Garden Again
Type in “Nude Gardening” in your Google search engine and you’ll come up with 378,000 results. What is all the buzz about? Organic gardener, Jay North's The Windowsill Organic Gardener tells readers how to indulge the naked gardening trend without ending up in court for indecent exposure. “Nude gardening is all the rage in Western NY,” says a blogger on www.faultine.org, “ because we have to soak up the Vitamin D during the 27.4 days during the year that we have the chance.” More...

German nudes fill museum for unusual exhibit
One hundred virtually naked women between the ages of 18 and 65 have displayed their bodies in a Berlin art gallery to prepare for a one-day exhibit on Friday. Wearing only transparent tights, the 100 nearly nude models stood, kneeled or sat down on the floor of the New National Gallery before a small crowd of journalists on Thursday. Bystanders peered in through windows from outside the building. More...

Greenip tries to cover for nudists
A conservative county senator failed yesterday to convince her fellow lawmakers that nudists need some legal cover in case they want to hold winter events in cities like Annapolis. Sen. Janet Greenip, R-Crofton, pushed an amendment to a bill originally aimed at strip clubs in Prince George's County that would have prevented overeager municipal lawmakers from barring events involving legitimate nudist groups. Calendar Girls' effort brings in close to $200,000
Semi-nude Peterborough ladies who appeared in a fundraising calendar netted close to $200,000 for flood relief efforts, the Red Cross and the United Way. Last fall, Mayor Sylvia Sutherland and 17 other women posed in the buff with specific parts strategically covered for the Age Of Beauty calendar. In total, $90,750 was raised, less $26,357 in expenses, netting almost $62,000. More...

Yard art business must hide nude statues
The Venus di Milo had better wear a top and Michelangelo's David should put on some pants if they're going to be seen at a yard art business. Bartholomew County officials told the business near Interstate 65 that it must move cement copies of the classical statues - and about 10 others - out of public view because they are obscene under Indiana law. A handyman walks in, and he drops his pants
When Dan Mlotkowski gets ready to fix a sink, he pulls off his shirt, drops his pants and straps on his tool belt. Then he's NakeDan the Handyman, stripped and ready for repairs. A 44-year-old St. Petersburg entrepreneur, Mlotkowski has parlayed a recent 50-pound weight loss and 20-plus years of handyman experience into a one-of-a-kind business. Don't laugh. With rates of about $130 per hour, Mlotkowski says his schedule is nearly booked through April. More...

Naked Hunch
The blogs were abuzz last week with the news that Sen. Joe Lieberman and his wife Hadassah were photographed frolicking in the surf at an Ibiza beach in Februaryfrolicking, that is, in the nude. As the story began its inevitable snowballing into a full-blown scandal, nudists in Connecticut were crying foul; this is the only state in the country that doesn't have a single clothing-optional beach, a situation that continues largely as a result of Lieberman's own putatively hyperconservative social values. Father fights for family naturist swimtime
A naturist has hit out at council chiefs who have banned his three children from naked swimming sessions at one of its pools. Fenland District Council claims they have taken the decision to ban under-18s from the naturist sessions, in line with child protection legislation. But Andrew Crawford said the ban on under-18s means he, his wife, and their children, who are aged five, eight and 10, will no longer be able to swim together at the monthly naturist sessions at the Manor Leisure Centre in Whittlesey, near Peterborough. Americans are too sensitive to nudity
I should have known the column on porn would get a response of "don't look at it." This is an ignorant response. Porn objectifies and demeans women; this is a fact. Claiming that they would do it anyway in no way makes its availability any more acceptable. In my opinion, the best way to slow porn sales is to stop making nudity so taboo. Yes, I am a conservative Christian, so me saying this will surprise anyone that has read anything else I've written here. In this country, nudity is all about sex. Sex is everything, and sex sells everything. More...

Naked pastor's 'holy' act
When Pastor Bob Wright appears naked before his congregation of Christian nudists, he feels no shame about his lifestyle. "I think it's a holy and reverent act," said Pastor Wright, who yesterday gave communion in the nude to more than 200 Christians at the Pacific Sun Nudist Resort at Donnybrook, north of Brisbane. The 51-year-old is the first Australian priest to "come out" as a naturalist and believes yesterday's service was a world-first. But he says he is not the first to strip before delivering a sermon. Nudity the least of our kids' worries
A couple weeks back in this same space, your loyal correspondent (that's me) took a somewhat less-than-gentle swipe at Escondido Councilwoman Marie Waldron for siccing the cops on a private, clothing-optional swim event at the Iceoplex. Since then, the good councilwoman and myself have engaged in a bit of phone tag (never quite catching each other, but leaving messages on each other's machines) in which Ms. Waldron has repeatedly asserted that her sole purpose in seeking to shut down the nekkid swimathons was to protect the children at the event. Story is tattoo much
It is a book club with a difference. Fans of a wacky American author will have to persuade 2,000 people to line up together - naked - before they can read her latest offering. Shelley Jones has already roped more than 1,000 volunteers to help her realise her dream of publishing her next work on human hide. Participants from around the world each have a different word from the story tattooed on a part of their body.  More...

ACLU seeks to reinstate suit over teen nudist camp
An American Civil Liberties Union lawyer urged a federal appeals court to reinstate a lawsuit challenging a Virginia law that scuttled plans for a summer camp for teenage nudists. U.S. District Judge Richard L. Williams ruled in August that the lawsuit was moot because organizers of the camp in southeastern Virginia surrendered their state permit for the camp after the law took effect.  More...

Bathing Beauties
Not long ago some summer-camp girlfriends and I had a sleepover, and at about 3 a.m., after we'd exhausted the topics of cute guys and the new 2005 SATs, the talk turned to our 16-year-old bodies: thighs, bellies, hair, boobs, booties. Did we like them? Did Jess wish she had Nomi's legs, did Maggie covet Natasha's complexion? Did we hate changing in the school locker rooms, did we plotz at the thought of being seen in our bikinis? Nudist pastor to hold naked services
A naturist church minister has called on like-minded Christians to join him in celebrating religion in the nude. Nudist Pastor Bob Wright is calling on likeminded Christians to gather at his Brisbane Church for a weekly nude service. Pastor Robert Wright, 51, is to hold weekly fellowship meetings at a nudist resort near Brisbane, reports the Australian Daily Telegraph. Mr Wright, who has been a naturist for more than 16 years, said: "I am not trying to get Christians to become nudists, I am catering for Christians who are nudists." More...

Nude whale watching trip still scheduled despite protest
Despite opposition from a San Diego activist, a local nudism club plans to proceed with a nude whale-watching trip out of Oceanside Harbor. Brian Spence, owner of Naturally California, the San Diego-based nudist club that has chartered a Helgren's Sportfishing boat for March 20, said Friday that the trip is still in the works. "I'm a business person and my business will continue," Spence said. More...

Sleepwalker mows lawn naked
A sleep-walking computer expert was caught by his wife mowing the lawn naked at 2am. Rebekah Armstrong told The Sun she was woken by a noise coming from the garden. When she realised husband Ian was not in bed she went downstairs to see what was happening. Rebekah said: "Ian was mowing the lawn completely starkers. I dread to think how long he'd been there but he'd nearly finished. More...

Naked crew swim for shore
Five Chinese fishermen shoved their clothes into plastic bags and jumped overboard naked into Wellington Harbour in a spur-of-the-moment bid for more money, police say. The men were crew on one of two South Korean squid boats which had been working off the Falkland Islands and were anchored about 450 metres offshore in Wellington Harbour on Saturday afternoon. The boats were due to berth at Aotea Quay this morning.  More...

Let your inhibitions go at a nudist resort
Last year's nudist weekend at the Elephant Rock Naturist Retreat near Brisbane was such a success that an even bigger clothes-less festival is planned for later this month at an Australian Pacific coast resort. As many as 3 000 naked visitors, from Australia and from abroad, are expected at a weekend of live bands, body painters, performing artists, dancers and general fun and games in the beach town of Cabarita in far northern New South Wales. Weigh bare facts on camp for teens
You may have noticed that nudists are plucky folk. A year after the General Assembly told them they can't send their teenagers off alone to summer nudist camp anymore, they're still fighting back tooth and nail - and everything in between. They seem to think they have the same rights as other parents to ship their kiddos off to summer camp, where, instead of computers or math or Popsicle stick handcrafts, teens are taught the philosophy of the nudist lifestyle. Howard's neighbours in nude feud
Kirribilli residents on Sydney Harbour are claiming they have glimpsed too much skin at what they allege is a nudist B&B five doors down from Kirribilli House.
North Sydney Council is now investigating whether Sydney Naturally B&B, in Holbrook Ave, Kirribilli, complies with rules for guesthouses, after residents raised concerns about the impact of the well-publicised establishment. More...

Uncovered and undercover
Naked security guards will look out for troublemakers at a nudist festival on the far north NSW coast next month. As many as 3000 nudists are expected to attend the Raw at Cabarita festival during the Anzac Day long weekend. Event organiser Mr Raice Nicholls said yesterday extensive security was planned for the event and included naked security guards. “We call them undercover, uncovered security,” he said. “You dont know theyre security, theyre just acting like they are in the crowd.”  More...

Naked neighbor tackles blaze
John Shropshire had just returned home for the evening when he saw his neighbor standing naked in his yard hold a garden hose. The neighbor was fighting a fire in Shropshire's garage. Shropshire, 56, lives in the 2200 block of Blue Mills Road in unicorporated Jackson County just north of U.S. 24. He returned home about 2:30 a.m., and he heard running water coming from outside. His neighbor, 32, approached Shropshire and said his garage was on fire. The detached garage and a school bus, both behind the house, were engulfed in flames. More...

Nude paintings cause uproar
An exhibition of nude drawings has caused a stir at the Harrow Arts Centre as it provoked a string of complaints. "Man and Woman", a series of life drawings showing a white man and a black woman posing together, attracted eight complaints in a day after it was put up in the bar area. One woman said that it "put her off her coffee" while another described it as "verging on the pornographic". More...

Laundry nudist overexposed
A La Crosse man who admitted he stripped naked at a La Crosse self-serve laundry earlier this month told police he had no sexual intentions but was making a statement about personal rights. Robin T. McCain, 26, 1524 S. 16th St., was charged Thursday in La Crosse County District Court with two counts of indecent exposure as a habitual criminal. He is accused of stripping naked at public laundry facilities at the Willy Wash, 1034 Redfield St., on March 1 and at King Koin Launderette, 2238 State Road, on Jan. 31. More...

Sai Kung's leaders say no to nudists
It looks like Hong Kong's naturists may have to look elsewhere for a place to strip down and get tanned all over after plans for a nudist beach in Sai Kung were opposed by traditional village leaders. The chairmen of two rural committees, which represent about 80,000 villagers on the Heung Yee Kuk rural body, said Thursday that it is ``not a good time'' to build a nudist resort because people in Sai Kung are conservative. PM's neighbours want the naked truth
Kirribilli residents are claiming they have glimpsed too much skin at what they allege is a nudist B&B five doors down from Kirribilli House. Commmunal bathing no longer concept lost in translation
Communal bathing is a foreign concept for most Americans. For many Europeans, however, a trip to the local sauna is a time to clean up and relax with friends at the same time. Joachim Liedtke, a visiting German professor this fall, shared his sauna experience with his German class. Originally from Germany, he has lived in Sweden for several years. More...

Complaints prompt nude exhibition
An art gallery owner in west Wales remains unbowed by complaints to police over nude artwork and has opened an entire exhibition of naked portraits. In October, some villagers complained to the police about a painting of a woman in the window of Richard Braine's Fountain Fine Art in Llandeilo. "A few of the town's elderly residents took offence. One came in and said it had ruined her day," he said. However, the complaints sparked the idea for a show of 40 exhibits.  More...

Body beautiful
Picture it: Hayden Lawn, next week. The lawn is covered with nude torsos, causing passersby to gawk, stop and ask questions. But that's the whole point. "I'm trying to get people to look at each other in terms of human beings," says artist Larry Kirkwood, who will display body casts of nude torsos on Hayden Lawn and in front of the Memorial Union as part of Body Pride Week, which runs from Monday through March 5. Nudists blame competitors for ouster
Natura Family Naturist Village's president says other nudists are prejudiced against its Christian premise, hence its national charter suspension. Between their naughty nightie nights and Erin Go Bragh-less St. Patrick's Day parties, Pasco County nudists aren't known for their bashfulness. So when the American Association for Nude Recreation decided last week to oust one of its members for posting provocative photos of naked children on the Internet, a furor was bound to erupt. And it has. More...

Judge Rules Nudist Park Must Be Sold
DADE CITY -  A judge on Wednesday ordered members of the Gulvin family to close on their sale of the Florida Naturist Park in Hudson within 60 days. A ruling by Circuit Judge Wayne Cobb appears to clear the way for Continuing Care Inc. to acquire about 60 acres of the nudist park. Continuing Care is a nonprofit organization and an element of the Quaker church, said Bill Martin, chairman of the organization's board. More...

Nudist Organization Defends Lifestyle
Enjoying recreational activities in the nude is a lifestyle thousands of Americans choose to live. It's legal, and those who practice say nudists are wholesome, family-oriented people. Brian Spence, president of Naturally California, said, "Nude recreation is a lot of fun. We have friendships that are long-lasting, marriages that last forever. We have children that grow up to be very strong leaders in their community." More...

Guess who's coming to dinner naked?
The diners arrived at a nice Manhattan restaurant on a cold February night and stripped off coats, hats, gloves and scarves. They didn't stop there. Skirts, shirts, pants, underwear and stockings all ended up stashed in plastic bags by the bar as the patrons got naked for the monthly "Clothing Optional Dinner." "It's exciting to be in a restaurant nude," said George Keyes, 65, a retired junior high school English teacher. More...
